<p>As a member of the Officer Aviation Family, during your career you may be may be employed in flying and non-flying roles at almost any location across the country or overseas, however initially training will tailored to achieving operational readiness.  Therefore your early posting will likely be to:</p>

You will be paid while you study. On completion of your degree, Initial Military Training and Initial Employment Training, you'll earn at least:

In the Air Force you'll get paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications; and your pay increases as you progress through training.<br><br>In addition to your salary you'll receive a variety of allowances, extra pay for relevant qualifications – plus 16.4% superannuation, a far higher rate than you're likely to find in the civilian world.

<p>As an Air Battle Manager, you will join the Air Force through the Officer Aviation - Mission Controller pathway. During your training at RAAF Base East Sale, you would have been selected for Air Battle Manager based on your preference, performance during training and availability of positions.</p>
<p>After completion of your training at RAAF Base East Sale, you will undertake specialisation training as an Air Battle Manager at the Surveillance and Control Training Unit at RAAF Base Williamtown near Newcastle.</p>
<p>As an Air Battle Manager, your job is to take control of the air battle. You will be performing surveillance and control duties using complex electronic command and control systems, with the aim of guiding airborne assets to where they are most needed.</p>
<p>Although you will start your career as a Mission Controller, opportunities exist to potentially fly as Mission Aircrew in the E-7A Wedgetail Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft. Regardless of whether you operate on the ground or in the air, you will operate technically advanced systems including radar, communications and tactical data links in the accomplishment of your assigned mission.</p>
<p>Using these advanced systems, you will detect, locate and identify air and surface targets and disseminate this information using a number of different communication and information systems. As you gain experience you will have the opportunity to lead teams and apply critical decision making to influence the outcome of the air battle. Effective command, control and communication is essential to successful Air Force combat operations and as an Air Battle Manager you will be pivotal to achieving it.</p>
