As a member of the Officer Aviation Family, during your career you may be employed in flying and non-flying roles at almost any location across the country or overseas, however, your initial posting will be to:
Weapon Systems Officer: 
Queensland 
No 1 Squadron RAAF Base Amberley
Electronic Warfare Officer: 
Queensland 
No 6 Squadron, RAAF Base Amberley

You will be paid while you study. On completion of your degree, Initial Military Training and Initial Employment Training, you'll earn at least:

In the Air Force you'll get paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications; and your pay increases as you progress through training. In addition to your salary you'll receive a variety of allowances, extra pay for relevant qualifications – plus 16.4% superannuation, a far higher rate than you're likely to find in the civilian world.

Further Training Operational Conversion (6 months). The operational conversion (OPCON) is the last step in the ISET continuum. Operational conversions (OPCONs) for the Super Hornet are conducted by the US Navy with bridging training on return to Australia conducted at RAAF Base Amberley. Once you complete your OPCON you will be a fully qualified WSO and ready to contribute to the application of Air Power and the defence of Australia on the F/A-18F Super Hornet (No. 1 Squadron) located at RAAF Base Amberley (just outside of Brisbane).

For both Weapon Systems Officer (WSO) and Electronic Warfare Officer (EWO), you will complete the following training:
<ul>
 <li> Introduction to Fighter Course (approximately 3 months). During this course you will fly in the back seat of the Hawk 127 Lead-In Fighter. In this course you will learn how to operate in a high-speed, high-g environment as well as working with the pilot and other aircrew in the formation. At the end of IFC it will be determined if you will continue your training on the F/A-18F Super Hornet or EA-18G Growler.</li>

 <li>Operational Conversion (approximately 8 months). The operational conversion (OPCON) is the last step in the ISET continuum. Operational conversion for the Super Hornet is conducted at RAAF Base Amberley.</li>

Once you complete OPCON you will be a fully qualified WSO and ready to contribute to the application of Air Power and the defence of Australia on the F/A-18F Super Hornet (No. 1 Squadron) located at RAAF Base Amberley (just outside of Brisbane).
<div class="p">Electronic Warfare Officer</div>
<ul>
 <li>Pre-Operational Conversion (OPCON) (6 weeks). Conducted at RAAF Base Amberley, you will conduct simulator training to prepare you for the upcoming OPCON overseas. This training involves general and instrument flying and emergency handling.</li>
 <li> OPCON (1-1.5 years). Your OPCON is conducted by the United States Navy at Whidbey Island, Washington State and is the last step in the ISET continuum. You will learn the basics of operating as a crew in the EA-18G Growler. Upon your return to Australia, you will complete a bridging course known as OPTRANS.</li>
 <li>Once you complete your OPCON you will be a fully qualified EWO and ready to contribute to the application of air power and the defence of Australia on the EA-18G Growler at No. 6 Squadron (located at RAAF Base Amberley just outside of Brisbane).</li>

As a Weapon Systems Officer, you will join the Air Force through the Officer Aviation - Mission Aircrew pathway and undertake your training at RAAF Base East Sale. During your training, you would have been selected for Weapon Systems Officer based on your preference, performance during training and availability of positions.
Once selected, you will undertake your introduction to fighter course on the Hawk 127 at No 76 Squadron at RAAF Base Williamtown and then continue your training with No 82 Wing at RAAF Base Amberley. There are also limited opportunities to train overseas in the USA.
Weapon Systems Officers are fast jet aircrew who operate on the F/A-18F Super Hornet or the EA-18G Growler electronic attack aircraft. In the Super Hornet and Growler, you will team up with the Pilot to operate state of the art mission systems including electronic warfare equipment and sensors including radar and infra-red targeting systems and weapons.
The roles of the Super Hornet and Growler are varied and complex in nature and include air-to-air combat, air-to-surface weapons employment or electronic attack. As a Weapon Systems Officer you will be at the heart of Australia's air combat capability.
