Build on your ambition and become a leader in your field
If you're a driven and ambitious individual, the ADF will teach you to lead teams, mentor others and manage complex scenarios as an officer. As long as you&rsquo;re a school leaver who has passed Year 12, you can join, learn to lead and mentor others.
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Year 12 graduates or qualified professionals.

You'll be paid to train and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Initial Employment Training, you’ll earn a tax-free daily rate of at least:

The pay you receive in the Navy Reserve goes straight into your pocket with no deductions for tax.

Officer Entry: Reserve

You consolidate your employment training on-the-job by completing a Professional Development Journal over no-less than one year. A supervisor will help you find opportunities to complete each module of your journal.

As a part-time Media and Communications Officer, you&rsquo;ll plan and coordinate activities for regional, domestic and internal audiences. Using traditional and social media, you&rsquo;ll promote and protect the reputation of the Navy and the ADF.

You&rsquo;ll use your written communication and media liaison skills to provide a broad range of public affairs functions for both the Navy and the ADF. You&rsquo;ll lead Military Camera Teams, provide strategic and operational communications advice to Commanding Officers and senior managers, assist with the handling of topical issues, and promote Navy&rsquo;s reputation by supporting media coverage. 
With further experience, you&rsquo;ll contribute to the development and implementation of military public affairs plans. You may also deploy in joint operations to lead, direct and manage both Imagery Specialist sailors and Australian Public Servants.
