The training and employment of Shipping Industry Liaison Officers is likely to involve interstate and/or overseas travel, however Shipping Industry Liaison Officers do conduct work from home.

You will be paid to train and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Initial Employment Training, you’ll earn a tax-free daily rate of at least:

<div class="p" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;">Shipping Industry Liaison Officer (known in the Navy as Maritime Trade Operations Officer) is a Reserve only capability that provides liaison between the Royal Australian Navy/Australian Defence Force and the Commercial Maritime and Shipping Industry in order to facilitate the protection of maritime trade to ensure better mutual understanding. 
 
The training, employment and operational support of Shipping Industry Liaison Officers is managed on a national basis through the Operations Officer located at HMAS Moreton in Brisbane and engagement with Maritime Border Command and Headquarters Joint Operations Command in Canberra. Employment on tasking, operations and exercises is likely to involve interstate and/or overseas travel. 
 
Applicants must be prepared to travel and commit to at least 20 days Reserve employment each year, in direct support of capability.</div>

Draws upon your experience from any sector of the maritime industry in this important part-time role, liaising between the Navy, other elements of the ADF and the Australian and International Commercial Maritime and Shipping Industry.
