Eligibility Checklist

Become an officer
You can choose to become an officer in the Navy, Army or Air Force via Direct Entry and have your training paid for while also getting paid. As long as you&rsquo;re a school leaver who has passed year 12, you can head straight into officer training with the ADF service of your choice.
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Year 12 graduates or qualified professionals.

You'll be paid while you train, and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Employment Training, you’ll earn at least:

Trained

Your salary once trained

In the Air Force you'll be paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications.

As a Space Operations Officer, you’ll lead a team of Space Operations Specialists to plan and employ space capabilities, complete missions, maintain Australia’s access to space, and conduct space operations.
 
If you’re an innovative thinker, adaptable, and ready to lead teams, this could be the ideal position for you.

You’ll lead a range of space operations, working anywhere from typical offices to remote, high-security locations, supporting space missions and broader ADF missions across Land, Sea, Air and Cyber. 
 
You’ll plan, execute, and participate in missions working in a range of areas, from missile warning technology and satellite communications to intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. Your team may conduct these missions with other ADF Services, allied nations, or partner agencies. 
 
Your leadership will be vital for the ADF to use the space domain to its advantage.

Lead a team of specialists in the emerging space domain, shaping the way it is used to support the ADF and its wider operations.
