Use your specialisation and become a leader in your field
If you&rsquo;re already qualified in healthcare, finance, law, chaplaincy, management, aviation, engineering or education, you can join the ADF part-time as a Specialist Reserve.
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Those who are a specialist in specific fields.

This entry method is currently not recruiting.

You'll be paid to train and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Initial Employment Training, you’ll earn a tax-free daily rate of at least:

The pay you receive in the Army Reserve goes straight into your pocket with no deductions for tax.

Officer Entry: Specialist Reserve

As a Medical Procedural Specialist, you&rsquo;re employed specifically for your Neurosurgical specialty. If you wish to be considered for further general medical officer employment, you&rsquo;ll need to meet further training requirements. This will be discussed with you when required.

As a Neurosurgeon in the Army Reserve, you&rsquo;ll work in surgical teams using your advanced medical expertise and knowledge to ensure appropriate clinical care is administered to patients in garrison and field environments in this varied part-time role.
If you&rsquo;re looking to experience adventure and excitement outside the everyday, earn tax-free pay and work as part of a close-knit team, this is an exciting opportunity that can work around your lifestyle.

You&rsquo;ll be an integral part of the healthcare services team, providing the highest standard of care to aid in the prevention, treatment or recovery of injuries or disease to ADF members, in line with your area of expertise. You&rsquo;ll perform your duties in a broad range of environments and workplace conditions, wherever and whenever a casualty/patient situation exists or where healthcare is needed. You&rsquo;ll need to be adaptable as some working environments may have limited stores and equipment.
You&rsquo;ll be a clinical leader of multidisciplinary health teams, in line with your professional and legislated responsibilities, and may work as a member of a small specialist medical team or individually. As part of your role, you&rsquo;ll communicate effectively, maintain confidentiality and effective relationships with superiors, subordinates, civilians and international forces, including people with diverse cultural and political backgrounds.
