Use your specialisation and become a leader in your field
If you&rsquo;re already qualified in healthcare, finance, law, chaplaincy, management, aviation, engineering or education, you can join the ADF part-time as a Specialist Reserve.
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Those who are a specialist in specific fields.

This entry method is currently not recruiting.

You'll be paid to train and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Initial Employment Training, you’ll earn a tax-free daily rate of at least:

Training

Your daily rate while training

Trained

Your daily rate once trained

The pay you receive in the Army Reserve goes straight into your pocket with no deductions for tax.

Officer Entry: Specialist Reserve

As a Medical Procedural Specialist, you’re employed specifically for your ophthalmological specialty. However, if you wish to be considered for general medical officer employment, you’ll be required to meet further training requirements. This will be discussed with you when required.

As a part-time Ophthalmologist, you’ll use your medical expertise and knowledge to ensure appropriate clinical care is administered to patients in both barracks and field environments.

You’ll be an integral part of the healthcare surgical team where you’ll be required to provide medical care to the highest standards to aid in the prevention, treatment or recovery of injuries or disease. 

You may work as a clinical leader of multidisciplinary health teams, as a member of a small specialist medical team or solo in a range of environments. Adaptability is key in this role, where you’ll need to perform your duties wherever and whenever a casualty/patient situation exists, or healthcare is needed.

Use your highly valued skills from civilian practice in field hospitals and on operations in this dynamic part-time role.
